Regenerative Therapy as an Adjunct to Periapical Surgery: A Case Report

چکیده
Large periapical defects may adversely affect the success rate of endodontic surgery. Use of regenerative therapy may enhance the prognosis of such teeth. A case of traumatized upper anterior teeth with infected radicular cyst and associated sinus tract reported to the dental hospital. A periradicular surgical procedure was performed to remove the nonhealing pathological tissue. To augment the repair a bioactive bone graft material was placed. Six months interim results showed positive outcome of application of graft. How to cite this article: Chaturvedy V, Chaturvedy S. Tricho-Dento-Osseous syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder. Immunosuppressive drugs, though critical to the treatment, have undesirable effects on patient's healing process. This is a case report of a 10-year-old female, suffering from Tricho-Dento-Osseous syndrome who was under treatment with penicillamine. As the dental treatment was sought too late, both central and lateral incisors...
متن کاملCombined therapy with mineral trioxide aggregate, and guided tissue regeneration for a large radicular cyst: a 13-year follow-up
Biomaterials such as membrane barriers and/or bone grafts are often used to enhance periapical new bone formation. A combination of apical surgery and these biomaterials is one of the latest treatment options for avoiding tooth extraction. In case of periapical lesions, guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is attempted to improve the self-regenerative healing process by excluding undesired prolifer...

INTRODUCTION Periapical surgery is the last resort in the arsenal of an endodontist to effectively deal with periapical lesions that result from necrosis of the pulp. Bone grafts, growth factors and membranes form an array of regenerative materials that influence the healing outcome of periapical surgery. PRESENTATION OF CASE The main purpose of the two cases reported here was to assess the p...
